Revolution is approved for:
- Fleas – Revolution is effective against three stages of the flea life cycle which stops ongoing infestation. Revolution not only kills adult fleas on your cat, it also kills the flea eggs and larvae in your cat’s environment. That’s good to know when you consider 95% of your cat’s flea population live in your house, not on your cat.
- Roundworms – Revolution is 100% effective in treating roundworm infections in cats and kittens with a single dose. Roundworms are the most common worms in cats and can cause general ill health, especially in kittens. Symptoms can include diarrhoea, weight loss and poor condition. Roundworms are a health hazard to people, which makes treatment important.
- Ear Mites – 100% effective cure in cats with a single dose. Ear mites can live in a cat’s ear canal causing irritation and a black wax-like discharge. Ear mites account for the majority of ear infections in cats. Revolution is a topical application applied once to the back of the neck to cure ear mites.
- Flea Allergy Dermatitis or F.A.D. – Revolution also helps to control Flea Allergy Dermatitis or F.A.D., a skin condition in cats that are sensitive to fleas.
For optimal control of flea and tick infestations, Revolution Plus should be administered at monthly intervals and continued throughout the flea and/or tick season based on local epidemiological situations. Following administration of the product, the adult fleas on the animal are killed within 24 hours, no viable eggs are produced, and larvae (found in the environment) are also killed. This stops flea production, breaks the flea lifecycle and may aid in the control of existing environmental flea infestations in areas to which the animal has access.
Advice on correct administration:
Revolution Plus is for topical administration to the skin surface only; do not administer orally. For ear mite treatment, do not apply directly to the ear canal. Do not apply when the animal’s coat is wet.
It is important to apply Revolution Plus as recommended to prevent the animal from licking and ingesting the product. If significant ingestion occurs, transient gastrointestinal effects such as hypersalivation, vomiting, soft faeces or reduced food consumption may be observed and should resolve without treatment.
The tube should be removed from the protective package immediately prior to administration. Apply Revolution Plus to the skin at the base of the neck in front of the shoulder blades as shown below:
Precautions:
Revolution Plus is indicated for use on cats aged at least 8 weeks old and weighing at least 1.25 kg bodyweight. The safety of Revolution Plus has not been established during pregnancy or lactation or in animals intended for breeding. However, selamectin is considered safe for use in breeding, pregnant and lactating cats. While Sarolaner has not been evaluated in pregnant, breeding or lactating cats, laboratory studies in rats and rabbits have not produced any evidence of teratogenic effects. The use of Revolution Plus in pregnant or lactating queens should be based on a risk-benefit assessment in consultation with a veterinarian.
During clinical field testing, no interactions between Revolution Plus and routinely used veterinary medicines were observed.
Ticks must attach to the host and commence feeding in order to be exposed to sarolaner; therefore, transmission of infectious tick-borne diseases cannot be excluded.
